"nothing shall be lost./importance of words"
My July illustration for Neil Gaiman’s Calendar of Tales. This was actually the first illustration I did, and I’m not entirely happy with it (looks a lil too much like Mufasa and Simba on Pride Rock). I had this absolute vision in my head, but I’m not familiar enough with collage or ink to have executed this ideally. Oh well.
I spent all of yesterday hunting through every book in my house. While it was a little sad to cut out the pages, it thrilled me to be able to make an image not only out of colors and shapes but also of words - so I had to make sure every word was perfect, and I think I did quite well with that.
Here are my sources:
Life of Pi - Yann Martel"Interpreter of Maladies" and "A Temporary Matter" from Interpreter of Maladies - Jhumpa Lahiri"Sunrise" from Praise - Robert Hass"All Shall Be Restored" from Elephant Rocks - Kay Ryan"Spring" from Flamingo Watching - Kay Ryan
